(BRANCHBURG, NJ) – The Arts & Design Department at Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) will present the 18th RVCC student art exhibition with jury, November 5-24, in the art gallery on the College’s Branchburg campus. The exhibition is coordinated by Darren McManus, Associate Professor and Director of the Art Gallery.

The opening reception will be held at the RVCC Art Gallery on Friday, November 5 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. As a precaution against COVID-19, the reception will not include any refreshments. The event is free and open to the public. Face masks are mandatory in the art gallery and in all College buildings.

Student works produced for visual art, graphic design or interior design courses in the last year, since the fall semester 2020, will be presented in the exhibition. Selected works will cover a variety of media including ceramics, painting, drawing, sculpture, graphic design, digital and multimedia, photography, illustration, interior design, video and printmaking. .

Each student was allowed to submit up to three works of art for review. The guest juror for this year’s exhibition is Michelle Doll, artist and assistant professor at New Jersey City University. Doll will evaluate all entries, make the final selections for the exhibition and determine the winners.

Michelle Doll’s paintings capture calm and intimate moments related to the personal connections between her subjects. His paintings are imbued with intimacy, desire and connection. Born in Canton, OH, she received her BFA from Kent State University and her MFA from the New York Academy of Art. His many professional recognitions and awards include the Prince of Wales / Forbes Foundation Travel Fellowship, 2006; granted Artist in Residence at Eden Rock in St. Barth (French West Indies), 2008; The honorable mention of the Bennett Prize in 2018; and a 2019 New Jersey State Council on the Arts scholarship. Doll’s paintings have been exhibited in the United States and abroad in cities such as New York, Los Angeles, London, Barcelona, ​​Oslo, Salzburg and Basel, Switzerland. She currently lives and works in Hoboken.

The opening hours of the gallery are Mondays, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesdays, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Wednesdays from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Fridays from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. On Friday November 5, the Art Gallery will not open until 5:00 p.m.
