PERRIER-JOUËT & GARANCE VALLÉE – ‘AIR PLANTED’

venue: ISETAN SALONE TOKYO MIDTOWN, Galleria 1F Promotion Space 9-7-4, Akasaka, Minato-ku, Tokyo

Perrier-Jouët launches the world premiere in Japan of a collaborative work of art, “Planted Air”, created by French artist, architect and designer Garance Vallée. This work expresses the dialogue between the two pillars that carry the Maison Perrier-Jouët: art and nature. Reinterpreting the ecology of the Perrier-Jouët vineyard, the extensive use of curves and arabesques in the work represents Art Nouveau in a contemporary perspective. The materials chosen are unique and artisanal, and the massive hand-cut limestone blocks evoke the Champagne terroir. The wrought iron, meticulously forged by craftsmen, recalls the main gate of the Maison Belle Epoque in Epernay.

material and technical cooperation: UNOU JUKU by AGC Inc. MakershipInc.

By examining the materials and techniques that were used in the production of mirrors, he relives the history of the man-mirror association. The title “Æ/æ” is inspired by the technique he used with his focus on the construction of the mirror, where he superimposes the phenomenon caused by the composite nature of the materials during the process of making the mirror on a reflected image.
