Eight local entrepreneurs receive funding

Eight entrepreneurs from Stratford and Perth County are getting a financial boost.

The Stratford Perth Center for Business says it has presented eight grants totaling $40,000 under the Starter Company Plus scheme.

The program is funded by the Province of Ontario and the Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, and offers 2 cohorts each year.

The most recent cohort completed a 6-week online training program.

Recipients include:

Kurtis Eisler, Cilo: Cilo aims to provide farmers with a unified dashboard that displays all farmer alerts and notifications in one centralized location. From this centralized access point, multiple farms can be managed simultaneously with independent reporting of AgTech notifications over time. Additionally, farm access can be shared with collaborators so that farm organization managers overseeing multiple farm managers can increase their visibility into operations.

Ray Broadworth, Wild Dog Woodworking Co.: Wild Dog Woodworking Co. is a design and build shop that provides live (and square) edge custom wood and epoxy products. From large dining tables and bar tops to coffee tables and desks, we’ve got you covered. Wild Dog also donates a percentage of its profits, along with special product sales and fundraising, to help support dog rescue organizations.

Ange Coneybeare, Ambe Winged Tours: Ange is an experienced birder who specializes in large raptors, such as eagles, hawks and owls to name a few. Her business is still in the development phase and she hopes to be operational in the summer of 2022. She will offer personalized tours for those who want expert advice on their favorite birds and habitats.

Laura Pirowitz, Your Way To Play: Your Way To Play is a mixed offering of retail and creative spaces for children. It offers children a place to explore, imagine and experience all possibilities in a safe and inclusive environment.

Jack Sebben, Residential Pressure Washing: Jack is developing a residential pressure washing service for St Marys, Stratford and area that will meet the needs of his community.

Jeff Leney, Restaurant Consultant: Jeff uses his experience opening and running successful restaurants to teach other aspiring restaurateurs how to imagine and build a successful restaurant in today’s challenging hospitality ecosystem.

Alicia Mizzi, Bereavement Therapist, Within Counselling: Within Counseling Services provides counseling services and group programs to the Stratford community. Inside Counseling Services will specialize in grief and loss therapy as well as maternal loss therapy.
