« Putting together music for 70 years of Sun Recordsand Anniversary was so much fun to be a part of and a trip back in time,” says Chris Isaak. “From blues to rock and roll, it’s the music I love and a sort of soundtrack to my life. Listening to and choosing music from Sun’s iconic catalog brought back so many memories – of hearing my dad play those records as a kid, of coming across a Japanese release of Elvis’ Sun Hits while I was boxing at the Japan, from singing those songs when I first dared to go on stage. Looking back, I still have the same favorites, but over the years I’ve discovered a few obscure gems and my list keeps growing. When I recorded my own Sun Favorites album, I realized that choosing “The Best” from Sun Records was a wonderfully impossible task. It’s like stepping into King Solomon’s mine and trying to extract only a handful of treasures.
Commemorative releases and official Sun Records 70th Anniversary merchandise are available for purchase through the new Sun Records Merchandise Store.
