Exhibition Design: Narrative Spaces, Connectivity, and Social Engagement, a free online lecture on the possibilities of transforming exhibition spaces into a platform for underrepresented and challenging social issues, will be discussed by Certified Graphic Designer (RGD ) Rina Alfonso via Zoom Thursday, June 30, at 3:00 p.m.
Alfonso will talk about how the design of the exhibition uses multidimensional objects, graphics and spaces. She will also talk about the fusions in curatorial practice, graphic design and programmatic spatial design in the delivery of these stories.
She will explain how design itself can help audiences gain a broader perspective and understanding of different important social and historical narratives.
Alfonso, whose experience spans working in various organizations, museums, and design and architecture firms, is the founder and owner of Studio Aorta, a Certified Women and Minority-Owned Business (WMBE) in Washington. , DC, which creates captivating spatial experiences. through the synergy of compelling storytelling, thoughtful design and artistic expression. All this while ensuring that their works promote and celebrate diversity, strength and the experience of intertwined journeys.
With a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Culture from Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan, and a Master of Arts in Exhibition Design from Corcoran College of Art+Design in Washington, DC, she is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Master of Fine Arts of Museum Exhibit Planning and Design Program at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.
