Brookdale’s Graphic Design Department is thrilled to announce that it will be hosting, in conjunction with the Global Citizen Project, the Center for the Visual Arts Gallery’s (CVA) first art exhibition of the Spring 2022 semester. will feature Tom Turcich’s photography documenting his 7+ year walk around the world with his dog Savannah. The exhibit is named after Tom’s journey, “The World Walk”.
For most of the past decade, Tom’s story has gained a viral following. Most recently, he appeared on the Netflix TV show “Worn Stories”. However, his desire to start this business was not born out of the pursuit of fame; rather, quite the contrary. Tom’s decision to embark on this journey was spurred on by the sudden passing of his close friend Annmarie. In that moment of darkness, he realized the fleeting nature of existence. It became clear that he wanted to dedicate the next chapter of his life to seeing the world and all the culture it had to offer.
Her journey began as an open tale in search of knowing more. Nevertheless, his photos and words have been woven together over the years to form an album of world culture. In this way, Tom’s story now reflects the theme of Brookdale’s Global Citizens Project this year by literally and figuratively transcending boundaries and division. Even at a glance, it becomes clear that her experiences around the world are filled with an overwhelming amount of love and positivity.
Please join us in the gallery for a reception and Q&A with the artist on February 10. The exhibition will run for four weeks starting January 17. Everyone is welcome!
