TEHRAN – The second edition of the Hima Nakh and Negareh exhibition is currently underway at the Niavaran Cultural Center in Tehran.
Organized by the ECO Cultural Institute of Iran, the exhibition features traditional needlework and tailoring as well as clothing created by contemporary artists from member states of the Organization for Economic Cooperation (ECO).
The exhibition features some 450 works by 220 artists, mostly from Iran, Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Turkmenistan, ECO Cultural Institute president Sarvar Bakhti said on Saturday.
Despite the fact that the works of art come from different geographical areas, they share common patterns and characteristics, indicating that they have roots in the same culture and civilization, the official added.
âWithout a doubt, clothing is an important part of the cultural life of various countries, and the understanding of clothing [specs] of a nation can give us an idea of ââits culture, âshe noted.
By illustrating the level of knowledge and skills in this ancient field as well as the interaction between CEE member countries, the exhibition aims to identify and present artists and veterans in the field of traditional tailoring, a she mentioned.
In addition to reviving the forgotten arts and showing the commonalities and contradictions among ECO members, the exhibition also seeks to raise the level of knowledge and skills for transfer between members internationally in the arts. traditional, she explained.
Bakhti also noted that peace and friendship are the central message of the exhibition.
The exhibition will last until September 21.

ECO is a regional intergovernmental organization encompassing countries in Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia, West Asia and South Asia with over 460 million inhabitants and over 8 million square kilometers connecting Russia to the Persian Gulf and China to Europe.
According to the organization, its overall objective is to materialize the sustainable economic development of its member states and the region as a whole.
